The 21st International Conference of the Spanish Society of Journalistic Studies (SEP), organized by the SEP and the Communications Department of San Jorge University, will take place at the Villanueva de Gállego (Zaragoza) Campus on June 19 and 20, 2015.
The Conference will include lectures and debates by Spanish and international communications researchers and journalists. We propose a joint exploration on the state of a journalistic profession subject to the explosion of digital and social media, a sign and symbol of our time. The current challenge is to rethink the current change of paradigm and the speed of the information wheel in the face of the classical journalistic values and modes.
All scholars and practitioners know that the new era has trapped us in various “networks”, from the perversity of certain immoral economic practices to the immobility of those still attached to the predominance of paper. The title of the conference is a positive wink to an undeniable fact: journalism has completely evolved due to the push on the new media, and has drastically transformed the profession and the practitioner, modifying the vocabulary, the work habits, the places where it is practiced and even the university education.
